Checking a business’s website is one of the first things a customer does. Whether it is to order a product or check out the menu it is one of your first impressions you present to a potential customer.
When you have a professionally designed website with high quality content, then you have the tools to generate leads. The problem is, how do you get those customers to your site?
You need to drive traffic to your site and if you’re looking at your analytics (an amazing built-in Squarespace feature) and not seeing results, I have several proven steps to that show results.
Start a Blog
Some business owners might get scared when you mention the word blog because they think of it as an online diary. While personal blogs still exist there are so many different ways to have a blog these days and show that you are an expert in your field.
Once this content is created it is important to share on different social media platforms for a higher reach.
Start an email list and offer an incentive to join. This way you have a built in audience that wants to hear from you. You can promote different blog posts, sales, or new products. Don’t be intimidated by keeping a rigid schedule. Find what works for you and your customer, that could be weekly, monthly or quarterly.
Now that you have something to say (via the blog or email marketing) are you sharing it on social media? This is a great opportunity to take key posts and advertise. Make sure you are researching your target market and narrowing your reach. Evaluate what is working for you and see results over time.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
If you know nothing about SEO, the simplest way that I can explain it is keywords, keywords, keywords! In order to move up the ranks in search engines like Google it is important to have strong keywords in your URLs, blog titles, headers, and image names. Think about what your customers would be searching for and how you can be the first to show up for that query.
I encourage you to implement these practices into your overall marketing strategy and you will see growth. And if you’re not sure how or where to start I would love to chat with you about how I can help you achieve these strategies.
